Make an educated guess; follow the Scientific Method.

By taking notes, as if I were writing a paper on the subject, rather than trying desperately to dissect and assess and improve my own psyche, I am able to disengage enough from the subject matter to look at it logically, through the cold and objective eyes of a scientist. In this way, I observe myself and my actions from a distance, meticulously charting my feelings and behaviors like those of a bacteria colony, growing and squirming underneath the harsh glare of of a microscopic lens.
