Reality.

It was a completely different world. A world that I had never known existed, for surely humans were more civilized than this. But here it was. That same existence that I refused to believe, laid out before me. It was an entire burning world of chaos, a world that had never seen complete happiness, but only blood and war and death. Screaming children lined the streets, crying with open arms, their faces turned upward towards the sky, looking to heaven for justice in the form of a swift and painless death.

But heaven was heartless. Watching from a safe distance it did nothing to sooth these children, with their torn clothes and starving bodies. Big brown eyes were filled with tears. Filled with tears in vain. For what would they do? What could anyone do?

These tears could not stop a war that had been going on for ages. These tears could not make the guns go away or the fires burn out. These tears could not mend a broken country, a shattered people, and show these children what love is.

"CRY, THE BELOVED COUNTRY, FOR THE UNBORN CHILD THAT IS THE INHERITOR OF OUR FEAR."
